Jim, et al;

I spoke with James today on the phone. Seemed easier to tackle this issue on
the phone than through email but maybe I could use
some clarification too. Jim you mention the angle of the engine, I guess I
didn't really address the level carb issue with James.
I basically told him the following. Once you get the right location for the
front of the engine, (the relationship between the
front pulley and the steering rack) the rest of the engine/transmission has to
be where it has to be. I know this sounds to simple
but I didn't have much of a choice after that. There is little room for up and
down movement because of the closeness of the
engine/transmission to the tunnel, obviously the left to right alignment must
be straight. It turns out that the carb sits fairly
level and the engine has a slight tip to the rear.

As far as the angle of the driveshaft, I haven't even tackled that yet, I guess
with 6000 miles on the conversion I better check
things out! If the engine/trans location is "fixed" then the driveshaft angle
has to occur at the rear end. I thought the
conventional way was to rotate (shim) the rear end so the resultant angle was
appropriate.

Have I missed something here?
