Larry-

You can spin the engine 'till next Fri. & still not get oil pressure.
Hopefully, you
packed the oil pump gears with the extra jar of Vaseline. If so, the best way
to
prime your engine is with a piece of 1/2" steel rod or a large straight
screwdriver
with the handle cut off. With the steel rod, you must make a tang on the end to
match the drive tang on your distributor- you have a Buick? Mark & remove the
distributor, you will not change any settings during the priming. Chuck your
choice
of tool into an electric drill, add a piece of rubber hose to the tang end to
keep
your tool from slipping off the oil pump drive shaft, drill away. You should
have
oil pressure in 20-30 seconds, if you remembered to put oil in the crankcase.
Don't
laugh, it has happened. Once the engine has been primed this way, you will have
no
problems in the future. If your oil pump has not been "Vaselined", you may
never get
oil pressure. Voice of experience.
