Mine (factory car) is plastic-coated (orange) steel.  I needed a new one as
I (ahem) allowed it to fall onto a manifold unnoticed where it proceeded to
melt off all the plastic.  My usual V8 parts man Clive Wheatley said they
are NLA, but sent me a used one which was in very good condition.  I still
have the old one - "If you haven't found a use for something yet, you
haven't kept it long enough."
