Is this normal behavior in hot weather? Is there a solution to this
problem?
<<<snip>>>
Very so, mainly because of the lower vapor pressure used in today's
fuels. The "vapor Lock" that grandpa talked about was fuel vaporizing
in the engine mounted fuel pumps. Ours is more like vapor withing the
float chamber or fuel jet.
There are several helps, but maybe no cures.
1) Open bonnet on carb side. when stopped.
2) Install heat shield between carbs and exhaust manifolds.
3) Install insulator blocks between carbs and intake manifold.
4) Wrap float chambers and fuel lines with insulating material.
