The shop manual says the exhaust system must be removed in order to change
the starter. I had no problem installing a new starter with the exhaust
system in place. With a little manipulation the starter can be dropped down
between the exhaust pipe and the frame, no need to jack the car up. What was
the shop manual thinking? (Maybe the original exhaust pipe interfered, but
the reproduction doesn't.)
