Think about that.  Many of us have LBC's that are up to 50 or more years old. 
With proper maintainence, they will take you across the country in relative
comfort and safety with little fuss and problems.  Now consider, yourself in the
early 1950's and you own a 50 year old car.  Now, take a cross country trip in
your Benz tricar!!  THAT would be an experience.
