Hi Bob, What you have in there is a gauze filter which you can wash out and replace. Remove the bolt from the underside of the long flat trumpet intake, after firstly bending back the locking tab. A sharp tap should enable the trumpet to come off. Wash it in petrol and replace. The trumpet intake is positioned just above sump bottom and leaves enough room for the sludge to settle rather than being sucked up by the oil pump. You may find some sludge in the filter depending on how regular the oil changes have been carried out. Hope this helps Regards David Tinker |
