All,
I began taking apart the rear of my '52 today, and ran into something I hope
veteran TD owner's can help with. In short, the rear on my TD didn't look
like what it's supposed to look like in the book. There were larger
shackles, the rear shock had been modified to attach directly to the axle,
(but re-attached to the dolley at a later date) and the plate on top of the
leaf spring had a 2" spacer attached to it. All of this had the practical
effect of lowering the rear end. Since all of the parts were "beefier" then
the NOS ones I've purchased I presume it's a performance mod. Questions of
why someone would lower the rear aside, does anyone out there know of or
remember a performance kit to lower TD's, (and if so by whom) or is this a
homegrown job?
Second question, I'm trying to plan ahead. Do the silentbloc bushings have
to be pressed in or can I drive them in myself?
As always, all replies appreciated,
Scott Allen
