Dick,

As other have indicated, the bolts are 8x1 mm metric. I use Keenserts.
Prefer them to helicoil because you don't have to tap an oversize hole,
just drill an oversize hole with the drill included with the kit.
Available from Metric and Multistandard Components. Several locations.
And, yes, you'll have to remove the sump (or gearbox).
