Just read your problem with 20 amp discharge on ammeter.

The ign light is connected across the dynamo output and the coil side of the
ign switch. When the ign is turned on it sees volts from the battery and
is earthed through the dynamo, so it lights up. It goes out because when the
engine starts the dynamo produces 12 volts plus and therefore both sides of
the lamp are at the same potential so no current flows.
Since your ign lamp comes on without the ign turned on it must be getting
some volts from the coil circuit (to which it is connected). Then when you
turn on the ign and the light goes out it is at the same potential on both the
lamp's contacts. Since the dynamo side is at earth the ign side must also be
at earth for the light to go out. But the ign switch should not be negative!

There is obviously a short somewhere borne out by the 20amp discharge. I
would disconnect the dynamo (at the dynamo, both leads), the coil (switch)
connection at the coil, and the ign lamp at the PLC and the pump at the pump.
Then switch on the battery again and see what happens. If there is no
discharge on the ammeter you have isolated the problem. Connect the other
bits in
turn until the ammeter discharges again and you will then know which circuit
to
look at for the short .

I hope this doesn't sound too trite and I hope it helps.
