Keith;

If anyone ever asked me (they didn't), I would have guessed that N2O
bottles would not be allowed on that side of the firewall. I'm surprised
to hear that it IS legal. It isn't a good idea in any case.

Subject: Nitrous bottles in the engine bay...

Rod Hatfield had a fairly serious engine oil fire which he couldn't
contain
with the fire bottles in the car... as a result one of the Nitrous lines
burned through and the added Nitrous caused a significant increase in
the
intensity of the fire.... which resulted in the two 15lb bottles popping
the
blow off valves in the engine compartment.... adding more oxygen to the
fire
which again increased it's intensity.... the result was that one of the
bottles couldn't expel the Nitrous fast enough and exploded rather
violently.... enough so that while he was exiting the car it knocked
him out
and blew two firemen on their collective duff's...

Should we consider not allowing Nitrous bottles in the engine
compartment as a
result of this?

Just doesn't make sense to have a repeat performance of the same
event... not
sure we'd be so lucky next time...

Keith
