Mayf I totally agree with you.... there are some basic design criteria's but 
Ultimately you come down to Jack Costella's deal.... Make it LONG, Thin and 
smoooth.... Then add as much speed as you can afford....

If you can't afford HP spend more time on making it LONG, THIN and 
Smooth....  and spend your time understanding what you have to do to make it 
fast...  Not the Math but the real world practical testing like we are doing 
on the Berkeley...
