Sometimes we overlook the really great accomplisments by only seeing the
highest speeds. Since the 200 mph club had left, Mike Cook and I had the
pleasure of welcoming Gary into to the 2 Club at over 210. Gary entered the
club using an unsupercharged engine on gasoline (parts wash) and 650cc's. The 2
club had no minimum, except the basic 200, probably because they thought it
couldn't happen and the accomplisment of it was good enough or never going to
happen. I know that feeling very well, having no minimum when we went 216 last
year using a brick to drive and an obsolete dump truck engine. The Williams
team deserves recognition and many atta boys...J.D.
