I wish you could have seen the extended family members who interrupted their family reunion in Salt Lake City to come out and run a Corvette in the 130 Club last year at World of Speed. After a couple of family members qualified on Saturday another five came out to drive on Sunday. Smiles all around as they all eventually qualified. The High School Drags at Rocky Mountain Raceway (located between downtown and the Great Salt Lake) are some of the best attended events every year in numbers of participants and spectators. I think they run them on Friday nights several times during the spring and summer. Quite a switch from the early 1950's when the highway patrol interrupted traffic on a road between Lehi and Cedar Fort to allow racers to challenge their friends ... and enemies for bragging rights. I have some photos I took that day ... it was Mother's Day and I don't think my mother has forgiven me yet for going out there. Wes |
