As a newbie to this forum, I would first like to thank everyone who
contributes to this list. I have learned a lot reading through the
history. Now for my questions. I am building a 1999 C5 Vette to run in
the BFMS class.
My first problem is wheels and tires. Given the road race design of the
car, nothing smaller than 17" wheels are going to work (and clear the
brakes) anyhow. I have poked through Goodyear's LSR front runners
catalog and they favor 15" wheels. With speed targeted in the high 2's,
I'm very concerned about using super speedway tires (i.e. F1's). Would
anyone like to offer advise?
My second problem is more of a debate - who makes a better (safer)
chute? Simpson / Deist / Stroud for heavy cars in the high 2's? Would
anyone care to open up this can of worms?
Lastly, I noticed several Vette builders on this forum. any advise
before I do something stupid?
Thanks in advance, John
