yeah, I've been thinking along those lines, too. The heavy equipment that
uses such systems (including most diesel trains and one of the German
"Tiger" tanks from WW-II) are WAY heavy. I'm thinking that high-amp
aviation-industry motors and generators might help that part of the problem
(available salvage?). None of us could afford the obvious answer--
superconducting generators and motors.
