James:
A plasma cutter is a wonderful device because it cuts all metallic
materials but there are two issues to know about. (1.) Travel Speed: If
you are use to burning with an oxy-acetylene (OA) torch you will find a
plasma torch disconcerting at first. The cutting speeds are vastly
different. The plasma is at least 10x FASTER than an oxy-acetylene
torch. If you are use to carefully (and slowly) following a line, to
contour-cut a pattern with an OA torch, you will find it very difficult
with the plasma...the speed is so much faster. On straight or angled cuts
you will adapt quickly have no trouble with speed. On contoured shapes you
may need a tracer attachment.

(2.) Safety is an issue. If you accidently pass over your GLOVED hand with
an OA torch you may or may not receive a burn (depending on the quality of
your gloves). If you do that with the plasma torch it will slice off a
finger or fingers!! -Elon
