Bryan,
Can you be more specific about themake and model of the '100% digital'
camera your son uses? And is the FD for Fuel Dragster?
>From all the responses and other contacts, I'm sure that the biggest problem
we had was simply overdriving the audio which wiped out the video. After all
the great suggestions, I'm going to fabricate a more vibration-insulated
mount and heavily muffel the audio. I'm still looking for any other hints
for the make of the camera. There are some reasonable Hi-8 units (~$300) and
some fairly reasonable 'digital' units. Any more hints on actual camera
types is appreciated.
Has anybody tested the transmission distance on those X-10 wireless cameras?
Thanks for all the tips!

Ps: Neil, I'm sure you're right and they should all use more TI parts!
Pps: Don't worry Dan, we won't video the gauges in an attempt at data
acquisition!

Bryan;
Seriously, if the circuit designers had done a proper job of limiting the
audio levels, the cameras wouldn't have that audio/video problem. I agree
that EMI/RFI problems are less troublesome now but you should see some of
the RFI questions I get from some big-name customers who should know better.

That must be it Neil. With regards to EMI/RFI, the current equipment
consumer stuff seems to be much better than it was 10+ years ago. I
don't know anyone who has tried digital but the 100% digital cameras
(Sony??) that my son's FD uses haven't had the audio white out problem
or any other problem - so far..
