Jim, Phil ..... We mounted a regular videotape camera on a bracket on
the right outside of the roll cage on the Black Radon Engineering 939 B/BFAlt
Firebird. The last thing we did before closing the driver's side door, as
the
blown rat motor was to be primed and fired, was to click on the camera ......
and the entire run from starter's waveoff through the full stop with the
chute
on the salt was caught on tape .
It is absolutely the very BEST part of all our 2000 Speedweek footage
to watch the markers go by out past the injector hat as you can HEAR
the thundering roar of that Chev pull the car to and past the 250 mph
mark !!!!! The sound from the videocam was certainly nothing like the
real deal in the car for the driver .....but every viewer has had a big grin
and some great comments after seeing it .....even without any nitro
fumes, or salt on their shoes . It is really great to have these video,
or even movie camera remembrances, as well as all the still photos
most of us have of our racing adventures ........
My Thought on VideoCams :
DON'T leave the starting line WITHOUT one !!!
Bruce, where another six to ten inches of snow is predicted tonight
on top of the eight or so we just got Friday .......
Ohhhh, for the old days when both summer AND winter weekends
found me at the Pomona, Santa Ana, San Gabriel, and LIONS Drag
Strips .....THERE the Nitro and the Noise was ALL VERY REAL !!!
