I had a great time this last week with the new magazines on the stands.

The Rodder's Journal has a nice spread on Chuck Rodger's "Cop Shop Coupe"
that was shot on the salt the last week of September. Wasn't easy finding a
spot without water for the shoot. He ended up about 50 yards off the end of
the access road.

Rod & Custom reported on the Asphalt Ego-Rama and had a shot of my
red-headed sister-in-law, Joyce Price, that even she said wasn't bad. Every
time I get out a camera at a family gathering she runs and hides claiming
she doesn't look good in pictures. She spent a while on Map-Quest printing
up driving directions to all the spots the tour was to visit. Sounds like
she was the navigator for the whole crowd because she could read a map. I
accused her of not trusting the men to ask directions and she just laughed.

Tony built the '32 coupe in six months last year from start to finish. Jeff
Parrish built a great motor for the car and Tony proved it with the fastest
time in that competition. USFRA starter Monte Widdison was in on the paint
job that looks like dark gray primer ... but isn't. Tony also built the '34
coupe now owned by Don Palfreyman that was another of the six contestants.
It really helps to have a good sized "barn" to work in.

We were talking to Terry Nish after the USFRA meeting last Thursday. Looks
like he will be entered in the A Streamliner class this year. He has a
great big new motor that should be very competitive in that class. Now all
he has to do is figure a way to stuff it into the liner. Probably will
require a modification of the upper body to accommodate it. If you have not
had the opportunity to see the car with the top skin off, make sure you do
this year. Cec McCray built an absolutely stunning chassis that is auto
show beautiful for that car.

Oh yes ... the salt pumping project has been very slow this winter. They
only pumped for a couple of weeks in January. About 3% of the projected
total that needs to go back on the racing surface so far. On the other
hand, it looks like they have not had much brine in the canal to take off
the salt. It has been dry or nearly so when people have checked on their
way to Wendover.
