Well, I'll be durned. I never noticed that on my '96 GMC 1500 with 350 V8 and factory tow package. Should have noticed that the revs didn't go up on a grade, which they would have if it wasn't locked up in 3rd. Haven't had any trouble with it pulling my 5500 lb trailer. But it shoots my friend's theory in the foot.
