Chuck Rothfuss asked about the turbo I bought on Ebay. Here are the
particulars...
On the compressor scroll is: A/R .75 M24 Garrett
The inducer opening has a metal screen over the opening and the OD is
approximately 5.125 inches in diameter. On the compressor housing are faint
stamped Numbers and letters: T88 B?. The B and ? could quite easily be
something else.
Inside the diffuser (air exit) is the number .75. I suspect that this
corresponds to the A/R ratio. The inside diameter of the diffuser is
approximately 2.125 while the od where the output hose goes is about 4.125
inches (really meaty).
On the cartridge (bearing housing) is a small metal tag with the following:
Detroit Diesel
A3502746
XKM0005
On the turbine side is a cast in number: ?M06. I think the ? is a 4 but
cant be sure.
Stamped on the turbine inlet flange is 443110-15.
The turbine inlet flange bolt pattern is about 2 3/4 x 4 3/8. The actual
exhaust opening is about 2 3/8 x 3 1/2.
The exhaust outlet is about 5 1/4 inshes in diameter.
The unit is held together with what appear to be v bands. The unit has
obviously be remanuafatured, it is new in appearance. It has cap plugs in
the oil inlet and outlets as well as on the compressor inlet and exhaust
outlet. Funny that the compressor outlet and exhause inlet have no such
plugs or protection.
This thing weighs a god 25 or 30 pounds (or maybe I'm getting weaker).
Ok, so what have I got? Where would I find maps for this puppy. Should I
try and find someone who can use this thing for the purpose in which it was
built?
It looks like it could really put out a lot of air. Looks aggressive and mean.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
