I'm certainly not a flathead expert, really wouldn't even qualify as a
novice. However, a friend of mine got me interested in the drags with a
ride in his '36 Ford Coupe powered by a 1/2" stroke by 3/8" over bore
"flatty". I believe that worked out to 302 cu. inches. I have not since
had a ride where the engine pulses reverberated throughout the car like
that one did.
The engine was built by Taylor Engines (Nellie Taylor and Jim Ryan) in
Whittier CA. That shop is still building great motors. Earl Wooden's
came out of that facility, I believe.
