Hi Dan. I am surprised to hear that my good old Shiefer flywheel may be
'banned' by SCTA 2000 rules. I imagine it is cast aluminum. Could you
define the terms a little more for us? As I understand it, there is
1. Cast Iron (traditional production cars)
2. Cast Aluminum
3. Forged Aluminum (Cast that has been worked on some??)
4. Cast Steel (malleable iron or nodular iron, much stronger than cast
iron).
5. Steel (low carbon, high carbon, alloy, heat treated, million and one
varieties).
6. Aluminum plate any thickness that somebody could cut circles out of
to make flywheels.
Lloyd Capanna told me he makes his steel flywheels out of circles
flame-cut from I guess plate. Thickness as needed. I'm quite sure
these are ok for SCTA rules.
Thanks, ArdunBill
