Greg, I think most on the list would agree your " bygone design twin
boom "
racer project sounds quite interesting. Since you wish to employ dubious
designs
or " loser technology ", as you call it --- the outmoded --- the unproven
--- the
" what ever became of ?? " stuff, here are several suggestions --- which have
been
tried --- not just Mechanical Quackery --- Desmodronic Valve Gear (
Mercedes -
Benz had a go at that. Or how about Mr. Bourke's little motor, named ---
what else ?
--- The Bourke Two Stroke ??? If you'd like to challenge the Law Of
Diminishing
Returns , spend a few hours cobbling up an Electric Motor Powered
Supercharger !
--- or do you aspire to a Normally Aspirated Powerplant ? There's a
treasure trove
of Ideas to draw upon, from mild --- Cadillac's 8 - 6 - 4 cylinder setup (
was in production ! ) --- to wild --- a hardened rubber camshaft that has
a wilder grind
AND increased LIFT at high RPMs !!! I don't know if your planned WATER
LUBE
SYSTEM would work out with such a super - trick cam - try it on the Dyno !!!
If you
enjoy working with WOOD, try fashioning some components out of that --- best
you
stick with hardwood --- oak - ash - cherry, or lignum vitae for the high
stress stuff :
wrist pins, con rods, main bearing caps --- rocker arms, too ! Just imagine
where
you'd be if a cheapo pine connecting rod , or TWO, let go as you entered MILE
THREE !!! --- not to mention your reputation as an engine builder ! The Sky
is The
Limit, Greg , and Bonneville IS The Innovator's Paradise --- Racing's
Last Stand
for Talented Tinkerers and Backyard Builders ! GO FOR IT !!! AND HAVE
FUN
---- That's what it's ALL ABOUT --- Ask KEITH TURK if Ya don't believe me
!
This isn't NASCAR --- It's CARS - SPEED - FUN !!! We'll be looking for you
On The Salt --- WITH or WITHOUT your Loser Tech Spl TwinTanker ---
