I'm only guessing here, but it may be the fuel pump cycling on and off supp=
ling fuel, you could check that by putting a test light on the positive fu=
el pump connection and watch the ammeter to see if the needle deflections m=
atch the light.

Subject: [Healeys] Electrical issue

I have an odd electrical issue. When the car is idling or driving, my ammet=
er flicks rhythmically from center to discharge as though the turn signals =
or wipers were on ( they aren=92t). There is no auxiliary that is dischargi=
ng that would cause this ammeter motion. Simultaneously my generator light =
glows very dimly. I have a new battery and replaced the voltage regulator. =
I have the original generator but notwithstanding the dim red light, it see=
ms to be charging fine. Any thoughts? I=92m reluctant to take it on a longi=
sh trip because of this. Don=92t think it=92s a ground: ammeter movement is=
 very rhythmic and steady

Thanks
Jon
