I would check the floats in your carburetors. They have a tendency to sink =
and the fuel pump then keeps running.=C2=A0 This can be dangerous as the fu=
el can overflow. I have a float with petrol in it in my garage from 10 year=

Sounds like you have an air leak on the intake side of the pump.=C2=A0 We=
=20
had a similar problem on our BN2; although the clicking was more=20
erratic--sometimes normal, sometimes clicking like mad. We checked=20
everything; finally my dad cut the outlet tube out of the used tank we'd=20
installed and found a small hole in the pickup tube by where the tube=20
was soldered to the top of the tank.=C2=A0 Dad deduced that the acid used i=
n=20
the flux used to solder the tube to the tank ate the hole in the tube.
Try running an inlet tube into a bucket of gas--obvious precautions=20
required--if that helps you've found the culprit; if not, the leak is=20
elsewhere on the intake side.

Seems the the loose screw holding down the condenser was the most recent
solution. Car ran great on my 50 mile RT to work today. So the toals: two
bad Moss Lucas condensers, one poor roadside instalation of an old Lucas
condenser. Hope I can go further than 200 miles. Rains are coming, so I
might have to wait to drive that far.

Keith,
Check the suction line from tank to pump. The pump is probably sucking air.=
This is the reason for the fast clicking.

The noise means you are sucking air on the tank side of the fuel pump.
Could be due to a loose connection or possibly a blockage caused by debris
in the line. Is it an old tank? has it ever been re-lined?

Keith,
Which SU fuel pump are we taking about? The one way valve discs Len=20
mentioned can be plastic or metal; depends on the model.
The pump will run faster than normal when there's a leak in the system.=20
=C2=A0 It can be on the inlet, outlet, or internal.
As Bob said, if the pump stops clicking when sucking fuel from a bucket,=20
then you can rule out the internal and outlet leaks.
You checked the carb throats - they're dry?
Cheers,
Bob Haskell

It does seem likely that you have an air leak on the inlet side (tank to
pump).=20
A leak on the outlet side would be altogether wetter, messier and smellier.
You can do quite a simple test by:-
diverting the fuel from the carbs into a container
and sealing up your tank's filler pipe ie where you pump in the fuel. Use a
plastic bag and duct tape or similar effective bodge. If you manage to make
a good seal, you should hear the pump do its normal clickety click when you
switch on the ignition and then maintain its new/wrong rapid clicking. Once
it has done its best to create a vacuum in the tank, it would normally slow
down and stop. If there is an air leak, the clicking will continue and you
may be able to find it by, say, listening through a piece of garden hose ru=
n
around the pipework and connections.
Worked for me. Start at the most obvious which is the banjo connections.
They're brass and suffer from overzealous, ham fisted POs. May be just a
little loose or needing a little PTFE tape.....

Now that I seem to have sorted the ignition issue I have another problem.
After driving the car for a while and I stop at a light, my car begins to
drop rpms and will then die if I do not blip the gas. Rebuilt carb, and
distributor, new plugs and ignition bits. Could a manifold leak cause this?
3 AM thoughts on the problem. I'm going to try the brake fluid spray on the
manifold trick to see if the engine changes sounds while idling.
Cheers

Hello,
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 Does anyone know what size allen wrench the plu=

of the 100-4 engine is?
I have a leak and need to change the gasket. I see Moss does have the

I need to "freeze" a stud to remove it. I understand that it can be done wi=
