One possibility is a leaky diaphragm.... it pumps up pressure, but fuel
leaks (backflows) through the pump. Thus allowing pressure to drop on the
output side of the pump. The pump responds with a click every 90 seconds
as it tries to keep the pressure up.
This is potentially the sign of an "about to fail" pump.... If the
diaphragm
leaks a little now, it will soon leak a lot and fail to maintain pressure.
Suggestion: rebuild (or replace) the pump.

If I turn the ignition on in my MkII BT7, the petrol pump does its clickety
click click as per normal, then it clicks about once every 90 seconds
thereafter. There is no leak that I can detect, nor a smell of fuel
anywhere. Tapping the float chambers, a cure-all for many SU issues, makes
no difference. Any ideas...? Or is it normal? (I don't think so).
And, of course, I could simply ignore it....
