Michael,
In retrospect I think that your advice is correct in that the mouldings
are not quite the same.
Having said that my experience with a BT7 which belonged to my closest
friend at the time which was being built up as a nasty boy replica (powered by
a 289 V8 Ford Motor) was fitted with a 2 Seater hardtop which had been fitted
with a metal moulding from a 4 Seater hardtop.
Healey friends in the US at the time convinced us that the 4 seater
moulding would fit the 2 Seater hardtop without any problem.
I wont tell you how much trouble I went to at the time to source the 4
Seater moulding for my mates car and finally managed to source one from a guy
by the name of Don Chapman in Eugene Oregon .Don at the time was actively
involved with a Healey racing group called the Purple Lips Racing Team.
Once received the moulding was repaired and fitted to the restored hardtop
and remained on the car through out the period it was owned by my mate and the
subsequent ownership for a
number of years by my wife and to the best of my knowledge remains with
the present owner today.
Just looked at an old black and white photo of the car which was taken by
a professional photographer who used to be a member of our club and the car
still looks impressive.
By the way it was a great looking car and until you opened the hood or
heard it running it was impossible almost to pick as being a Nasty Boy. When
sold we included the piece from the left hand footwell that was removed
originally to allow the V8 to be fitted so it could be returned to original
fairly easily. When purchased in Nevada there was no engine and gearbox in the
car
