Kees,
I am an Electronic Engineer, but I stay with old fashioned (mechanical) points
with all my classic cars. When they do not work properly, I can fix them on
the road to get home at least. When electronic ignition fails I am stuck on
the road and need to call the recovery service. Sorry, but that often happened
with my friends with electronic ignition systems. You need at least carry a
fall back solution in your boot.
My rule with classic cars: Don`t do anything electronically what can be done
mechanically.

New contact points are rubbish these days. wrong dimensionally, wrong
materials. The don't fit or last. Change to electronic ignition, saves a lot
of work and aggravation.
