Only thing I will add is that I used a white latex (water based) paint  for 
the lettering on the knobs, not having a very steady hand for fine detail I 
could be a little messy, then carefully wipe off the excess  with a damp 
cloth (very lightly so you get the surface but is doesn't sink in to the 
indent for the letters) for a clean neat finish on the letters. I was very 
pleased with the results.
