Theoretical:
A cool engine generally runs less efficient as fuel droplets from the
carbs evaporate to a lesser extent in the manifold/head leading to
incomplete combustion, carbon build up on the head and pistons and a
higher CO content of the exhaust gasses.
Water and fuel evaporate less quickly from the engine oil. Maybe less
efficient removal/absorbtion of dirt and contaminants by the engine oil
leading to sludge forming.
