Actually,I didn't describe the condition well.? The entire visible portion of
the traficator is moving about a half inch with the motion of the steering
wheel.? After a half inch of total travel, the entire visible portion stops
moving until I turn the wheel in the other direction.

Bill -

?

It shouldn't move at all.? Check to make sure the olive nut at the far end of
the steering column is tight.? Also make sure the cancelling "L" is not bent
too much, otherwise it will interfere with the lever when the L is at the top
position.

When the traficator is installed and the three grub screws are tightened, how
much should the thumb-lever move as you turn the steering wheel?? Mine follows
the wheel for about the first half inch or so of wheel motion.
