Maybe this is to simple, but wouldn't teflon pipe thread or high quality plumbing joint compound (I have some such stuff in my garage that I bought years ago that the label says is suitable for many differentg uses) be a a cheaper and much easier possibility? it is not a high pressure application like brakes, so I would think worth a try before buying a new pump.
