Cool !
Are the inside the trunk filler type tanks and the external type filler tanks
the same capacity. Maybe I missed that part.

Subject: Tank test part 2--The Dirty Little Secret all these years.
The official manual describes the "Tank Capacity" as 14.4 US Gallons.
Now after all these years the true story can finally be told:
There is no way to get 14.4 US gallons into a Healey tank.
I observed 13.75 gallons--exactly 1 qt short of 14 gallons with the tank
clear full, all the bubbles tilted & shaken out of it, and with the fluid
level about half way up the short metal stub pipe.
The entire fuel filler neck is 2.25" x 17" and this calculates out to
approximately 1 qt 5 oz. for the filler neck including the stub & the rubber
pipe.
This means clear full to the filler cap, the tank holds right around 14
gallons or a few ounces under.
At the gas station without all the tank-tilting & bubble removal you're
looking at maybe a shade over 13.5 gallons.
I'm breaking this story over the weekend in order to minimize its impact and
try to bury the story, as the news media will be busy with other things in
the next couple of days.
