Randy,
I installed a Falcon SS system to a ground up restoration BN1 in 2002. Did
not fit worth a damn. Had to rebend the exhaust pipe so the clutch pedal did
not hit the pipe, and so the end after the flex put upward pressure on the
chassis mounting bracket (they last longer if attaching force is in
compression). Also, I swaged the muffler inlet larger to correctly accept
the exhaust pipe (a tight slip fit). The bracket welded to the tail pipe is
improperly located for mounting to the OEM chassis mounting bracket. I
fabricated an interface piece which also lowered the tail pipe to 1/2 inch
clearance where it passes under the boot floor/rear shroud flanges. SS
clamps were installed at muffler inlet & outlet joints.
One the most important components of the entire system is the mounting
bracket between the engine block (oil pan flange) & exhaust pipe. It keeps
vibration and dynamic torque component from destroying the exhaust pipe at
the flange interface. I fabricated the OEM configuration out of SS & added a
SS reinforcement between the SS "U" clamp & exhaust pipe. This is a truly
100% SS exhaust system.
After 8000 miles; no problems.
