Hold on, most battery chargers are not pure DC, they only have a diode and
no filters which is the correct way to charge a battery but not operate a DC
motor. I suggest that you wire it across a battery before you give it a
death certificate. As a side note most battery chargers are also
un-regulated and you might see as much as 20 volts across the leads,
un-terminated. This, along with the AC content, can fry some 12
electronics.

I've seen a lot of these with the diaphragm setting a bit too tight.
Removing the 6 perimeter screws and easing the setting a hole or two seemed
to make all the difference and the pump was happy.
