John, If you mean the rail that runs across the car behind the seats that the stiffeners rest on, --then it should be a two piece affair, that slides together in the middle being somewhat adjustable that way. I had to buy one, I forget where, --and it did not require cutting, --however that does not mean that some don't require it.... --Are you sure you are plugging it into the correct sockets on the sides?
