The early seats are certainly more comfortable.
I just put two original seats on the bench side by side- a 100 and a BJ 8.
The entire seat of the four cylinder is definitely tipped backwards a full two
inches (measured at the top of the backrest) more compared to the BJ 8. The
cushion top is two inches higher at the front than the BJ 8, whereas the rear
of the cushion is the same height on both.
Also the Four's backrest pleated section has a noticeable convex (read:
lumbar support) curve whereas the Six's is dead flat. The original
Dunlopillo was actual Latex Foam Rubber- with a soft, pliant "live" feel
compared to the nasty hard, flat "dead" foam cushions now sold as
replacements.
I've always had 10 x 9 separate wedge cushions, pleated and piped in the same
material and color as the seats (instead of the traditional rolled-up club
jacket), as a lower back support for the BN 6. Makes a huge difference.
