I am not attributing the problem to the Pertronix unit. I have had ignition
problems with this car since day one. The reason for the Pertonix unit was that
under acceleration at @3500 rpm the car would backfire spit and cough until I
would back off the gas. Today I was able to run high revs while stationary and
it did very well it felt willing to run. I have replaced everything you can
think of on the ignition short of the distributor itself - coil, solid core
wires, rotor...etc.
By the way the carbs were professionally rebuilt by Jim Taylor and have been
adjusted and tuned after installation.
