Simon: Let me state at the start that I am not a computer expert by any
means. Do not expect any technical computer answers from me.
It just so happens that Jim Coates' computer column in the Sacramento Bee
today responded to a problem that may be similar to yours (and then again,
maybe not). To summerize, the problem was the ability to share files from
a laptop on a desktop, but inability to access the desktop from the laptop.
Jim Coates' answer, in part, was that it is common for folks using the
networking setup wizard in windows XP to either allow a space before the
first letter or after last in the name they supply for a member of the
network. To the computer that space is just another character in the word,
so it cannot see what you want it to see. The fix is to go back and make
sure that neither of the names has a space before or after.
