Josef,
I agree with most all of the other replies on this. Recently finished the
resto of a BJ7 with a friend and he had the same problem as you describe.
This car had been hit pretty hard on the right front. The distance on the
left from axle to axle was 5/8 shorter than the distance on the right. As a
result of this the diagonal measurements were not the same either.
The entire right front clip from firewall around to front left main rail was
replaced as a unit. Done by a local guy who apparently did not take careful
measurments. The bad alighment was not discovered until the chassis had
been painted, the body parts refitted, and the entire car painted! Took
some cutting and repositioning of the lower wishbone attachments and top
plate on the shock tower to remedy the problem.
As someone else said you need to have this taken care of before you proceed
any further!
