The evidence of 500 BMIHT certificates in the BJ8 registry collection would
indicate that RoadSpeed tyres simply means "not whitewalls". In every case
where "whitewall tyres" is specified, RoadSpeed is not indicated, and vice
versa.
Certificate evidence indicates Disc wheel cars got both "whitewall tyres" and
"RoadSpeed tyres" (but not at the same time).

....They were Bias Ply tires, the disc wheel cars got gold seal tires,
while
the wire heels got Roadspeed RS4s. The main difference being tubes, and
tubeless, respectively.
The only other thing "special" about the Roadspeed tires was a relatively
tall
profile, which fills out the wheel wells and looks better on the car than
modern profile tires.
Radials are available in a similar profile. I have the Michelin ZXs, and
they
look right.

Anybody know the story behind the "RoadSpeed" tyres that came with
later Big Healeys? Were they radials and/or what was so special about
them they got listed in the BMIHT certs?
TIA,
bs
