This film is known in the industry for being one of the earliest uses
of a gyroscopically mounted 70mm movie film camera on a car. Add to
that very heavy camera a solid car mounting that can hold the
gyroscope, and it won't shake at all (same equipment they always use
in helicopter shots).
In fact, to keep the car from spinning out of control, I would have to
imagine that they probably put around 300 - 500lbs lbs of weights in
the trunk to keep the car balanced front to rear (I assume the camera
was mounted in front of the nose of the car just off the pavement).
This is probably why you hear so much tire screeching in the film
during turns.. the car is probably carrying a half a ton more stuff
than it is normally designed to carry. Normal Ferraris will hardly
screech making turns at the speeds shown in the film.
This film is genuine... I saw it back in 1982 well before computer
graphics and all that sort of stuff... it's the real deal.
