  "The pipes should have a couple of gaskets: one is a fiber gasket with
  notches cut on the ID that goes under the "banjo" of the pipe, the
  other is an aluminum one that goes under the bolt on the top of the
  banjo."

  This description very accurately describes the float chamber vents on the
HD6 and HD8 carburetors used on 100-6s, 3000 MK 1s, and BJ8s.
  However, the 3000 tricarbs used HS4 carbs, whose float chambers did not use
the same float lid design, and had no "banjo fitting" or pipe for the vent.
The HS4s and HS6 carbs either had just a vent hole in the lid, or a small
brass tube fitting pressed into the lid, to which were attached flexible
tubes.
