if i remember correctly, the only thing welded back is the front lip of the
shock tower which is folded up to insert the drilled and tapped steel plate
which receives the shock bolts. when the old california hot rodder, eddie
miller, did mine, he drilled and tapped 2 additional holes for 10/32 screws to
hold the plate in alignment . on top of the shock tower, besides the 4 shock
bolt openings, you have the 10/32 holes for the screws to hold the plate in
place. the front lip is then folded back down and welded in place.
