RE: Looking for exhaust leak test

I must be missing something on this one.  I don't understand how spraying
carb cleaner around the engine would help locate an exhaust leak.  It does
make sense for an intake system leak though.  Please educate me on this.

"I spray carb cleaner around the engine. The RPMs will increase when I hit a
leaking spot. You will be able to find them quickly. It has always worked
for me."
