BJ8s did not originally have insulation under the hood. I wonder about the
effect of putting it there, too. Are you doing it for sound insulation? I
imagine it would tend to insulate the engine bay heat from getting out as
well, and most people see getting rid of that heat as more of a problem than
sound.
I used 3M contact cement to attach 1/4" double mylar-faced bubblewrap type
insulation to the underside of my fiberglass gearbox cover several years ago.
So far, it's taking whatever heat it sees and hasn't come loose. When using
contact cement, I have found it much better to try to stick only a little bit
of it at a time, at least in the beginning.
