GEEZ on karts

As some of you may know we've had some difficulty with GEEZ
on F125 shifter karts in the past. My own runs on my F125
from last year's nationals were just a mass of engine
vibrations with no discernible course to be had.

Alan Sheidler and I wanted to test a super-hi-tech fix for
this, so weekend before last we got together and tested.
Our super-hi-tech fix involves a special cotton fiber damped
hand towel, and a roll of high-g rated duct tape. We just
wrapped the Cube in the hand towel with about 1" of fluffy
towel around the cube on 4 sides. Then we taped the bundle
shut. (Be sure to mark which way the cube is positioned in
the bundle so that you know if you are mounting it on the
kart facing the right direction.) Then we applied even more
silver tape to stick the fluffy bomb right to the frame. We
taped it under the driver fairing, between the driver's
feet.

We used a simple camera case type pouch to hold the power
supply and Palm Pilot. It was easy to wrap that around the
driving fairing, and a little more tape made sure it wasn't
going to get away.

The results were fabulous! The runs are clean and free of
high frequency vibrations. Big vibrations, like bumps in
the course, all show up very clearly. And the runs were
very easy to adjust. We used the new lapping software and
ran many, many tests of 3 or 4 laps each. The new lapping
software worked remarkably well, (but I did find some
details I'll be tweaking to make it just a little easier.)

Anyway, if you are driving a buzzy open wheel car and wonder
about whether GEEZ can handle the bumps, have no fear! Most
of our A-Mod and F500 customers have no problems at all, and
even kart drivers now know it'll work with just a single
easy high-tech trick.

BTW, I promised not to tell about how Alan was pulling 1.6g
sustains (bumps gave us peaks up to and over 2 g's, but who
cares about bumps anyway), and transition rates consistently
hitting 12 g/second! So don't ask...cause I can't
tell...gotta go now, that black helicopter is circling lower
and lower outside my window...
