 and switch them out. &nbsp;Then I opened up the old one and there it was, a=
 big broken tooth rolling around the bottom and scars on the case where it h=

nd me how lucky I was that it didn=E2=80=99t happen at speed. &nbsp;And so g=
lad that my dad was never aware of the whole affair and what could have happ=

derstand the reasoning behind not letting a more modern and available option=
 to be used.&nbsp; Toyota, Miata, T5 or what ever.&nbsp; Had I known that to=
 date, absolutely no tech inspector would ever even look at or question my g=
ear box or if I was using rack and pinion steering, I may have gone that rou=
te in the first place.&nbsp; I don't think these items make the car or drive=
r go much faster and spoil the competition.&nbsp; Some are using these alrea=
dy anyhow.&nbsp; I've heard the argument many times, that basically the orig=
inal option with over-drive had 7 gears.&nbsp; Why wouldn't any 5-speed be a=
